About the course
Want to build your own home, garage or simply renovate? In Queensland where the construction work exceeds $11,000 you will be required to complete this course prior to obtaining an owner builder permit from QBCC. The owner builder permit does not allow you to carry out licenced work such as electrical and plumbing work.
Course outline
The Queensland Owner Builder Course will introduce you to the multitude of obligations of being an Owner Builder. It will provide with an understanding of the owner builder in ensuring a safe and effective construction project.
Unit of competency
The Queensland Owner Builder Course is based on 10274NAT accredited course. Topic covered include:
- Key responsibilities of an owner builder
- Work health and safety
- Design
- Environment and energy
- Estimating, costing and budgets
- Planning and scheduling
- Payments to trade contractors
- Obligations under the QBCC Act 1991
This course is approved by the Queensland Building and Construction Commision.
