Recent changes to the NSW Building Act has meant some changes to the forms used to obtain the NSW Owner Builder Permit. This article will help you understand the process to obtain an Owner Builder Permit. The process is quite simple:

Step 1: Complete the NSW Owner Builder Self Assessment Tool

Step 2: Complete the NSW Construction Induction Course either online or face to face

Step 3: Complete the NSW Owner Builder Course

Step 4: Once you have completed the course and received your certificate you will need to complete one of the following application forms:

– Use this form if you are the owner of the landOwner Builder Application Form for Freehold Land
– Use this form if you are a leaseholder of the land: Owner Builder Application Form for Leasehold Interest
– Use this form if the land is owned by a companyOwner Builder Application Form for land owner by a Company

Step 5: Submit your form at your nearest Service NSW Centre. For your nearest centre, please check Service NSW Centres.
